The comings and goings at a busy little Inn.
Some like to call us a pub, some a restaurant or indeed for others we are a hotel or a coffee shop. We do have rooms, we certainly sell great ales and wines and offer excellent food - you can even book a table online - and of course you can get a cup of Tea or Coffee so one word is hardly enough - which is good as I rarely offer only one word .....

New Menu Coming Soon

We are in the final straight now and the new menu which we are all very excited about will available in the coming weeks.

We have reviewed our current menu, talked to guests and set our chefs a series of key challenges. The chefs have been throwing ideas at us and we have tasted all variety of dishes in our desire to refresh and innovate our menu.

In refreshing the menu we wanted to address the masculine nature of our existing menu, reflect the summer season we about to move into and pay attention to the trends for lighter healthier eating.

We have never aimed at just being another country pub serving traditional pub food but one that offers high quality classics mixed with some altogether more interesting and varied options. We always use local where ever possible and quality comes before price.

We don’t pretend to be cheap in fact we don’t want to be cheap as we love good food and try to offer great value based on the quality of the ingredients, the expertise of our chefs, the hospitality of our team and the ambiance of The Devonshire Arms.

So what will the menu be - all will be revealed in good time but rest assured the Pie, Burger, Fish & Chips et al will all still be available with one or two improvements we have made but this menu will be somewhat different and offer huge choice.

  • We will be adding some flavours from further afield following the huge success of the Moroccan Lamb Stew.
  • The Hung Kebab range will be extended as these have proved to be a very popular addition to the menu during the recent trial period.
  • The steak range will evolve adding a couple of less obvious but incredibly tasty cuts we have been playing with.
  • New Salads with tasty and interesting dressings are a welcome addition for the Summer months.

The biggest change will be a “Devonshire Boards” section which is essentially a pick and mix “Deli” style board option offering a myriad range of options for you to choose from - allowing you to create your very own bespoke “Board”.

The Desserts or Puddings range is changing but the best sellers stay and here the focus on healthy has; to be honest; had no part to play in our decisions. Our desserts currently and will in the future contain calories which we ask you to forgive us and yourselves for and just enjoy the indulgence.

We look forward to getting things wrapped up, the menus printed and a few discounted invitations accepted so we can move things forward with a menu that reflects the best Kitchen and Front of House teams we have ever had the pleasure to work with.

Live Music

What is better than great quality live music and where better to listen than in a pub - shared with friends over a drink or two?

In our opinion It’s certainly better than Karaoke, listening to a blend of surprising renditions; a la Susan Boyle; to the sound of cats being tortured like the original track.

Obviously there is no admission fee, simply the opportunity to listen to some talented musicians playing for your pleasure on a Friday night after a hard week at the Office.

The musicians will start from 6.30 - 7pm.

We have can welcome JJ Galway and friends. JJ lives in Chesterfield but hails from Ireland and plays everything from stirring anthems to Irish, Jazz & Country tracks.

The Fridays JJ Galway will be playing are:

  • 7th July
  • 25th August
  • 15th September
  • 13th October
  • 17th November
  • 8th December

We will be adding more musicians over the coming months and are looking forward to helping you start your weekend in the best way possible.

Have a great day.
